These guys sure are patriotic!!

Happy Independence Day!!!

Hey guys, it’s the 4th of July!!!!  Wow, the summer has gone by really fast, eh?  I mean the Gibbster is about to get married!  Craziness.  I hope all is well in your respective places.  All is well here…….

And in other news…..     Today is The Second Anniversary of the wonderful relationship Mandy and I started two summers ago!  Isn’t that awesome?  I mean, 2 whole years, and the party is just getting started!  I am one lucky guy, that’s for sure.  To have a lasting love relationship, now that’s a blessing.  It’s great to know that I can come to somebody who loves me and cares for me.  I am truly thankful for Mandybear Halbert (soon to be Haun).  Well, talk to you guys soon.  Holla.

I don't know who this is, but I do this a whole lot.

Life at the Crest…..

Hey Guys, I haven’t written in a while.  But I HAVE been reading everyone’s posts (Jake Dorak, hang in there).  So, things are going pretty good up here.  I mean, you would not believe the close encounters I have had with the infamous Pileated woodpecker, Eastern Screech Owl, and other then animals of the Class Aves, I have seen tracks of the Black Bear.  Anyway, I hope things are going well, and check back every once in a while for totally random and informative information.  I have also gotten quite addicted to DISC GOLF!!!!

Yes it’s True………Justin Haun is a Graduate.

Wow.  I did it.  I’m a graduate.  It feels pretty good to be honest.  ConGRADulations to all of my fellow colleagues who walked across that grand and glorious stage.. and who sat for almost 3 stinkin hours with me.  You know, I am gonna miss the ole JC, hangin out at lil brudder, playin tennis with the guys, and leading worship at the B.  It was all wonderful, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.  As we all know, everyone is in transition at this point, as D-Mac said in his post.  I hope the best for everyone!  Please keep in touch, as I am not very good at doing it.  So call me!  Email me!  Please!!!!!!!

The Biggest Moment in Ornithology Possibly in 100 Years!  (No Joke)

Hey guys, I am sorry for not posting lately, it’s been crazy busy.  But when I found this out today……I was so overjoyed…. I just had to share this!  I know I’m a dork, but man, this stuff really made my week.  I guess I really do have a passion for birds…hehe.  Anyway, check out a picture of this bird.

Yes, you think it looks like the similar one on my previous post.  No Sir!  The one on the previous post is a Pileated Woodpecker, a fairly common species.  I have seen 4 myself, and actually heard one out birding this morning.  The picture you are looking at here was taken in 1935, in Louisiana.  It is a picture of the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker.  It is the size of a crow!  This is one of the last pictures taken of this bird, because it was thought to be extinct since the 1940s.  But a couple of days ago, a press conference announced that a sighting had been confirmed last year in Arkansas, complete with video!  Now the video wasn’t very good, but a team of ornithologists have reviewed it over and over, and have confirmed that this is authentic!  A few have even been down to find it and have confirmed sitings!  Wow, I’m so excited about this.  Here are some links to follow up on this amazing moment in ornithology.

Here is a color picture of the Ivory-Bill.

Caution:  May be a hard read......It just scientifically justifies the video and other evidence.

You know, To me this is just wonderful.  I really can’t express the excitement right now!  I mean it’s the equivalent to finding Elvis!  Wow.  If you are interested, go to google and type in ivory billed woodpecker.  You will find many news articles on this amazing find.  I really want to go see this thing after graduation….no joke.  Too bad I have no money.  Before I die, though…..It’ll definitely be on the life list.

On Birds and Deodorant, and the Dukes of Hazzard...

One of my favorites.  A Pileated Woodpecker.  Saw one a quarter mile from the house the other day.

Hey guys…. Goodness gracious it’s been a long time!  So I am sitting here listening to bird songs on a CD.  I have really gotten into the songs of birds lately, because when I bird, it’s really hard for me to see some of them due to a little bit of colorblindness.  If anyone wants to hear bird song mnemonics, let me know.  Do you know what I’m thankful for?  DEODORANT!  Now this is some pretty awesome stuff!  I mean, it makes you smell good.  That’s all one has to say.  I am currently using RightGuard Xtreme Powerstripe with the scent of Energy.  Man do I ever love this stuff!  Thank you Lord for creating such wonderful scents!  Oh yeah, and why the Dukes of Hazzard?  I mean, they are just good ole' boys!
